Centennial Seeds was founded August 18, 2009 by Ben Holmes to develop and produce high quality Cannabis seed for Colorado medical gardeners. The company was one of the very first of its kind in the U.S.
Ben saw the obvious need for reliable and novel seed in what is undeniably a plant industry. Since 2004 Mr. Holmes has practiced and studied breeding and the process of cannabis seed production. Early on he recognized the value in preserving geographically isolated ‘landrace’ strains for use as breeding material. This idea led to the creation of a private cannabis seed bank with over three hundred distinct genetic lines. This library represents a fantastic body of genetic material spanning five continents. Its value lies in the wonderful variety of chemotypical and physical characteristics that nature has designed into this plant, Cannabis sativa.
In March 2012 Centennial Seeds Inc. was administratively dissolved. Ben now works studying cultivation issues and problems surrounding the Cannabis crop and applies this knowledge as one of the leading technical advisers to the industry.
Ben has lived in Boulder, Colorado for 20 years.
